Stephen Kingsmore is President and CEO of Rady Children’s Institute for Genomic Medicine (RCIGM), where he leads a multidisciplinary team pioneering the clinical use of rapid whole-genome sequencing for critically ill infants and children.

He is widely recognised for demonstrating that genomic diagnosis can be delivered at the speed required for acute care. His teams established successive records for the fastest genetic diagnosis and helped move rapid genome sequencing from research into neonatal and paediatric intensive care. He has also been a driving force behind BeginNGS, an initiative exploring genome-based newborn screening for hundreds of treatable genetic conditions.

Kingsmore’s work sits at the intersection of genomic medicine, artificial intelligence and clinical implementation, with a strong focus on shortening the diagnostic odyssey for children with rare disease and enabling earlier, targeted treatment
