Dr Pilar Hernandez is one of the two Managing Directors of the SORMAS Foundation. She has over 15 years’ experience working on programmes for the control of infectious diseases, with special focus in Pandemic Prevention and Response, Digital Health, and Neglected Tropical Diseases. She has provided technical assistance to ministries of health and regional institutions across several countries in Africa and Latin America and led teams for effective implementation. She is currently responsible for the project’s portfolio and business development at the SORMAS Foundation. She has a bachelor’s degree in human biology from the University of Barcelona, Spain, an MSc in Control of Infectious Diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK, and a PhD in molecular diagnostic methods for infectious diseases from the Justus-Liebig-Universität Giessen, Germany.
