Peter is an ecologist and evolutionary scientist by training working in the field of sustainability science. He is interested in how human societies coevolve with the rest of the living planet through cultural evolution and is currently working on an Anthropocene synthesis of evolution and sustainability. He leads an ERC project on the cascading dynamics of emerging infectious diseases and agricultural pests in human societies. As part of the newly launched Anthropocene laboratory he is a scientific lead on the Hope assessment documenting the character and scale of human activities to build a more sustainable and long-lasting relationship with the rest of the living planet.
