Nicholas Katsanis is Co-Founder, Executive Vice President and Chief Science Officer of Galatea Bio, and an internationally recognised scientist and biotechnology executive working across human genetics, cell biology and drug discovery.

His academic research helped define the biology of ciliopathies, including Bardet–Biedl syndrome, and contributed to the understanding of modifier alleles, genetic burden and the complexity that sits between classical Mendelian and complex disease. At Duke University, he founded the Center for Human Disease Modeling, building integrated experimental systems to connect human genomic variation with disease mechanisms.

Katsanis has led interdisciplinary teams and international consortia focused on genome interpretation and functional genomics. Through Galatea Bio, he is applying population-scale genomics and ancestry-aware approaches to improve the representation of historically under-sampled populations in precision medicine.
