Dr Michael Porton’s engineering journey spans 18 years working at the edge of the possible, where disciplines meet and effective teams are the key to success.

Highlights include unprecedented additive manufacturing with the ESA - European Space Agency, life-changing implantable medical device production at Abbott and leadership of the Joint European Torus as its Chief Engineer in preparation for its world-record campaigns. He has gained recognition by the UK Royal Academy of Engineering – winning its George Macfarlane Award.

Mike joined Tokamak Energy in 2022 as the Chief Engineer charged with leading the design and realisation of its next advanced tokamak device.
