Meret Gaugler is a seasoned public- and private equity investor with a specialization in the healthcare sector. Having grown up in Bern, she studied biochemistry, robotics and neuroscience at the ETH in Zurich before she moved to the ETH in Lausanne where got her PhD in the field of Parkinson’s Disease at laboratory of Patrick Aebischer. After that, Meret lived New York where she started her career in the financial sector working as a biotech analyst on the Hedge Fund of Lombard Odier Asset Managers. Back in Switzerland, she took up responsibilities on a thematic, long-only equity fund, progressing to being a portfolio manager for several billion of global and Swiss long-only equities for nearly a decade. During that time, Meret picked up important advisory mandates with large institutional clients and became one of the bank’s highest-conviction voices in the press and on an international stage. In 2020, Meret worked with the Swiss National Science Foundation’s COVID task force and served as an entrepreneur-in-house for a COVID biotech program before she joined a medium-sized Swiss healthcare venture fund, first as the Head of Strategy, later as a full investment partner and non-executive director on portfolio boards. Meret is currently working as an advisor to mid-market private equity, a large North American pension fund, incubator funds as well as a European activist hedge fund. She also serves on the Investment Committee of the ETH Foundation. Meret lives in Zurich with her family.
