Professor Mark Mescher is a biologist at ETH Zurich and co-director the Biocommunication Research Group. His intellectual interests focus on evolution, animal behavior and communication. His research program focuses on the role of information in mediating ecological interactions among species, including plants, insects, and microbes. He has also explored how malaria and other pathogens affect human odors and the role of chemical signaling in disease transmission by insect vectors. Prof. Mescher taught courses on animal behavior and social evolution, and written about the broader role of information in biological evolution.
