Vice President of Applied R&D in the Planetary Health DivisionNovonesis

    Lone Nilsson is the Vice President of Applied R&D in the Planetary Health division in Novonesis, reporting to the Executive Vice President of Planetary Health Biosolutions and leading a global organization across the USA and Denmark. Novonesis is a global biotechnology company delivering sustainable solutions for human health and planetary health, based on microorganisms, enzymes and related fermentable components for use in the agricultural, industrial and health sectors. Lone is responsible for delivering new sustainable biotech innovation for approximately 50% of Novonesis’ global business. With a background across various scientific and commercial disciplines, Lone has been responsible for leadership of innovation and product development in applications covering textiles, food, agriculture, animal health & nutrition, bioenergy, biorefining, industrial production, and more. Alongside her role at Novonesis, Lone serves on the board of the DANISH BIO – DANSK BIOTEK association of biotech companies in Denmark (2020 - now), the Strategic Advisory Board of DTU Electro – Department of Electrical and Photonics Engineering (2020 - now), and the Danish Academy of Technical Sciences (2020 - now). She has previously been a member of the F5 leadership network (2020 - 2021), and the Science Advisory Board at Copenhagen University (2016 - 2020). She is the former Chairman of the DTU Alumni Network advisory board (2011-1015), where she was awarded “Honorary Alumna 2016” for professional expertise, enthusiasm and innovative thinking for the benefit of DTU.
