Khalid A. Fakhro is Chief Research Officer and Director of the Precision Medicine Program at Sidra Medicine, where he leads research in genomics, personalised medicine and the translation of molecular data into improved healthcare.

His research focuses on identifying genetic variants underlying rare and complex disorders, mapping diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, autism and cancer, and characterising the genomic structure of Arab populations that remain underrepresented in global reference datasets. He joined Sidra Medicine in 2014 and subsequently built and led its Human Genetics and Precision Medicine programmes.

Fakhro also holds adjunct faculty appointments at Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar and Hamad Bin Khalifa University. He graduated with honours from the University of Chicago and completed a PhD in Human Genetics at Yale University.
