J. Royden Saah has twenty years of experience developing and implementing programs to prepare for and respond to complex, emerging threats to human, animal and ecosystem health. Some of his most noticeable achievements include:
- Coordinating efforts between FBI, CDC and NC Public Health during 2001 anthrax attacks
- Leadership role in 2003 SARS-associated coronavirus efforts in NC
- Brought animal and human health organizations together in the North Carolina Laboratory Response Forum to prepare our statewide system against zoonotic disease emergencies
- Facilitating expansion of the Guyana National Public Health System (2008-2014)
- External planner & evaluator of CDC-wide emergency response exercise (2013)
- Establishing laboratories and operational protocols in North Carolina and West Africa during Ebola outbreak (2014-2015)
- Formalizing and expanding multinational genetic biocontrol program (2016-present)
- Coordinating multinational, research effort to responsibly develop powerful technology to prevent extinctions
