François Rivasseau holds a Ph.D. in Law and was a former student of the École nationale d'administration. He has held various diplomatic positions in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was French Minister Counsellor in Colombia for 3 years, then Counsellor for politico-military affairs (NATO, EU, WEU, UN, Conference on Disarmament) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1989-1998). He was then Ambassador of France in Geneva and Minister Counsellor in Washington until 2011. François Rivasseau was Ambassador-at-Large for Space, Head of the Security Policy Office in Brussels until 2018. Finally, he was Ambassador of France in Geneva - UN, WHO, WTO, ILO, UNHCR, ICRC, ITU from 2018 to 2021. In parallel to his career in the diplomatic service, François Rivasseau was Professor of International Affairs at the Bordeaux Institute of Political Science from 1990 to 2020 and has participated in various conferences in more than 30 universities around the world.
