Edison T. Liu is Professor, President Emeritus and Honorary Fellow at The Jackson Laboratory (JAX). He is an international expert in cancer biology, systems genomics, human genetics, molecular epidemiology and translational medicine, with a particular focus on breast cancer.

From 2012 to 2021, Liu served as President and CEO of JAX, overseeing major growth in the organisation’s research scope, infrastructure, philanthropy and international presence. His scientific work has explored how gene regulation and genomic architecture shape cancer biology and how these insights can be translated into more precise diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

Liu has authored more than 350 scientific papers and reviews and co-authored two books. He earned both his BS and MD at Stanford University and completed clinical and postdoctoral training at Washington University, Stanford and the University of California, San Francisco.
